What Blues Review had to say . .
Bake Sale Volume Four, a solid set in support of the Great Northern Blues Society, collects the cream of recent releases from Wisconsin-area artists and adds some exclusive, newly-recorded material.
Most notable among the latter is "Funky Driveway," an instrumental from Milwaukee mainstays the Steve Cohen Blues Band that spotlights Fender clinician Greg Koch's Memphis/Muscle Shoals rhythms and Roy Buchanan-inspired effects.
Reverend Raven brings the swamp to Chicago's West side, Paul Filipowicz (with Calvin Owens' horns) sears "199 Lonely Teardrops," Jay Stulo is typically gritty, and young guitarist Alex Wilson displays a deft West Coach approach.
